The 3rd round draw is complete

This Tuesday saw the latest spectacular draw being held in the Luis Aragonés assembly hall at the Ciudad del Fútbol, a draw in which the four teams involved in playing in the Spanish Super Cup were included too.

On 6 and 7 January, the Adidas Amberes ball will start rolling again for the third round of the Copa del Rey. The pairings were decided at the draw, held this Tuesday in the Luis Aragonés assembly hall at the Ciudad del Fútbol. The knockout round is made up of the following matches:

UD BARBASTRO - FC BARCELONA
ARANDINA CF - REAL MADRID CF
CD CASTELLÓN - CLUB ATLÉTICO OSASUNA
CD LUGO - CLUB ATLÉTICO DE MADRID
MÁLAGA CF - REAL SOCIEDAD DE FÚTBOL
UNIONISTAS DE SALAMANCA CF - VILLAREAL CF
ELCHE CF - GIRONA FC
BURGOS CF - RCD MALLORCA
CD TENERIFE - UD LAS PALMAS
RCD ESPANYOL DE BARCELONA - GETAFE CF
RACING CLUB FERROL - SEVILLA FC
SD HUESCA - RAYO VALLECANO DE MADRID
SD AMOREBIETA - RC CELTA DE VIGO
FC CARTAGENA - VALENCIA CF
SD EIBAR - ATHLETIC CLUB
DEPORTIVO ALAVÉS - REAL BETIS BALOMPIÉ

The draw has brought joy for the so called smaller teams: the two Segunda Federación teams that have survived in this far in the cup have been rewarded with star studded opponents, Arandina CF and UD Barbastro will host Real Madrid CF and Fútbol Club Barcelona respectively, both clubs that will play in the Spanish Super Cup. The four teams that will play in the Super Cup have already been drawn in this round: Club Atlético de Madrid and Club Atlético Osasuna, along with Culés and Merengues.

The two teams were to play against teams from the Primera Federación, and as luck would have it Osasuna will visit Castalia to face CD Castellón, while Atletico Madrid will face CD Lugo in the round of 16.

Everything is therefore ready to continue with the magic of the cup and the excitement of a tournament that is bound "to get your hair standing on end both in the stands and at home in front of the TV".
