The National Team stretches their lead at the top of the FIFA world ranking

Montse Tomé's side build on their achievements from last December, opening up a gap on the second-placed team.

The updated FIFA world ranking for women's senior national teams confirms Spain in top spot, a place they reached for the first time last December. In doing so, they consolidate first place for Montse Tomé's team and extend the gap back to the second-placed team, in this case, England.

The FIFA ranking published today does not, therefore, mean a change in Spain's position at the top of the rankings, although there have been other changes at the top. The Spaniards, who were 20.93 points ahead of the second-placed team (at the time, the United States) in December, now lead the English by 71.77 points. Spain have a total of 2085.96 points to England's 2021.41.

The results of the UEFA Women's Nations League final four have boosted Montse Tomé’s team’s position and seen France hold on to third place, with England (2nd) and the United States (4th) swapping places with respect to December.
