The red bull from Donaueschingen welcomes visitors to the Museum of the National Team.
From today, the museum at the Ciudad del Fútbol will be home to the figure of this now iconic animal.
When the Spanish national football team arrived in the German town of Donaueschingen on 8 June 2024, at their training hotel, the figure of a red bull - 2x3 metres in size and weighing more than 100 kilos of ceramic material, placed at the entrance to the Der Öschberghof complex attracted a lot of attention. Both the squad and the journalists on site were surprised by the presence of this animal, which they soon made their own and turned into their symbol.
With the victories achieved in the various stadiums across Germany this summer, the stay in the picturesque surroundings of Der Öschberghof became longer and longer; and it was not until 13 July that the national team left the base camp for the final time, heading for Berlin, where they would play the final that would see them crowned champions of Euro 2024.
Between the two dates, the bull changed position: from the entrance to the complex, where it was located to welcome the players, it then moved to a hall through which our stars entered their dining room. And it was there where, just as shirts and postcards were signed, the bull received the autographs of the eventual champions.
The 26 signatures on the red ceramic material undoubtedly give added value to this figure, which has now been transferred to the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas to form part of the collection of the National Team Museum.
Until its location in the facilities is finalised, the imposing figure of this bull, which has become an authentic icon of the fourth European Championships won by Spain, now welcomes visitors to the Museum that the Royal Spanish Football Federation has at its headquarters. A museum in which, of course, the trophy won at the Berlin Olympic Stadium, in that final that is now historical for the entire country, can also be admired.
