The Royal Spanish Football Federation continues to make progress in its commitment to sustainability and care for the environment. On this occasion, it has incorporated two electric buggies in the sustainability stations located at the Ciudad del Fútbol, aimed at facilitating travel within its facilities. This measure reinforces the Federation’s commitment to sustainable mobility and, at the same time, encourages healthy habits among those who use its facilites.

This innovative initiative has been led by the RFEF's Equality, Social Responsibility and Sustainability Department and has been supported by UEFA. Through the Climate Investment programme, the European body transforms the CO₂ emissions generated in matches organised in Spain into specific investments aimed at improving the environment.

The RFEF itself presented this project as part of its environmental strategy, obtaining the necessary backing to carry it out and thus be able to save more than fifteen thousand litres of fuel per year in the hundreds of journeys that are made annually within the Ciudad del Fútbol.

Sustainable mobility is one of the Federation's priority strategic objectives. As such, several initiatives have been developed to reduce the carbon footprint associated with sporting events. Among them, the promotion of the use of public transport to attend matches stands out, which means a significant reduction in polluting emissions.

An example of these actions can be found in the organisation of the final of the Copa del Rey, where in addition to calculating and monitoring the carbon footprint of the event, measures are implemented to reduce its environmental impact. These include incentives for the use of public transport and offsetting emissions through reforestation projects, such as planting trees in selected areas.

With initiatives such as this, the RFEF reaffirms its commitment to the environment, working towards a more sustainable football and contributing to the fulfilment of global climate action goals.
