The 66 sports governing bodies in our countrygrouped under the Spanish Sport Association (ADESP), held their latest board meeting this Wednesday, during which the admission of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) to the entity was formalised.

The meeting was attended by the President of the RFEF, Rafael Louzán, the President of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, and the President of ADESP, José Hidalgo, thereby consolidating institutional collaboration in favour of the development of governing-body sanctioned sports in Spain.

The incorporation of the Royal Spanish Football Federation marks a milestone for ADESP, as it strengthens its role as the sole voice of governing-body sanctioned sports and significantly expands the base of athletes represented. With more than one million football federation licences, the inclusion of the RFEF raises the total number of athletes under the ADESP umbrella to over four million, establishing the Association as the largest platform for representing and defending the interests of governing-body sanctioned sport in our country.

Just before the signing of the agreement, the President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Rafael Louzán, welcomed the attendees, stating: "We are delighted to have you here and know that we will always be entirely at your disposal. May this be the first of many occasions on which we can gather in this, our home."

For his part, José Hidalgo, President of ADESP, stated that “the incorporation of the Royal Spanish Football Federation strengthens our ability to engage with public and private institutions, opens new opportunities for the development of joint projects, and promotes the attraction of resources for our Sport.” This was echoed by the President of the CSD, who described the signing of the adhesion agreement as “a gesture of mutual generosity on a truly historic day that will help Spain to continue being an international benchmark for sports.”

A family photograph marked the conclusion of ADESP’s board meeting, the next of which has been scheduled for the coming month of September.
