The clash between Spain and the Netherlands at the Mestalla, scheduled for next Sunday, is an opportunity to show once again the strength of solidarity in Spanish football. The RFEF's Palco Cero initiative, which raises the profile of social causes, will receive the mayors of the affected areas. In addition, solidarity T-shirts will be sold and children from the towns will be part of the pre-match ceremony prior to the Nations League match at the Mestalla.

Spanish football promised that it would stand close to the families and towns that suffered the most from the effects of last October's torrential rains and it has already responded. Valencia will become the epicentre of a few days of displays of solidarity and support from the Royal Spanish Football Federation for the most damaged areas.

To mark the occasion of the second leg of the UEFA Nations League quarter-final between the Netherlands and Spain, which will be played this coming Sunday at the Mestalla stadium, Spanish football has deployed a series of initiatives to support the reconstruction of sports facilities as well as to support the most affected areas.

Following Luis de la Fuente going to Valencia to announce his squad of players called up for the double-header against the Netherlands, now that the competition has arrived it is the turn of the individuals, families and groups who suffered most from the devastation to receive the attention.

The RFEF's Palco Cero initiatve, which is dedicated to promoting charitable causes at every Spanish match, will host the mayors and representatives of all the towns and villages affected by the floods from across the region.

In addition, children from these towns will be in charge of carrying the central banner that will be seen during the pre-match ceremony where the slogan, “We play for you”, promoted by the RFEF since last October will be visible for all to see. Children from these parts of Valencia will also accompany the Spanish and Dutch internationals as they take to the pitch and line up for the national anthems.

Beforehand, all fans will have the unique opportunity to purchase a unique set of T-shirts that will remain in the memory for a lifetime, the T-shirts inscribed with the names of all the places that suffered from the floods and which will be sold both in the fan zone set up in Valencia and in the Mestalla itself.

Spain are set to arrive in Valencia this Friday, after playing today in Rotterdam. On the same day they arrive, the Spanish national team training session will be open to the public at the Mestalla and there will be a way to help out with the ‘fila 0’ campaign through Bizum donations for those who want to collaborate to support those affected. The RFEF will also donate footballs to affected people.

The Netherlands, who have joined in supporting the initiatives with a donation of 10,000 euros to be handed over by the Dutch federation dignitaries on the occasion of the visit to Valencia in the form of a cheque that will go towards the reconstruction of sports facilities in the area. Spain’s opponents on the pitch are not to be left out of Spanish football's display of solidarity.

The match between the Spanish national team and the Netherlands will be broadcast in its entirety for the visually-impaired with the now customary audio-descriptive narration service.
