Vicky López makes her debut in a historic match

The midfielder played nearly half an hour in Spain's victory over the Netherlands.

At only 17 years old and just under seven months old, born on 26 July 2006, Vicky López can already boast of having experienced first-hand a historic moment for the Spanish national team.

The young player from Madrid made her debut last night with the senior team in a crucial match for Spain, with a place in the Nations League final and Olympic qualification up for grabs. In the 73rd minute, Montse Tomé brought on Vicky to replace Jenni Hermoso, scorer of the first goal in the semi-final against the Netherlands.

At that moment, the youngest member of the Spanish national team stepped onto the pitch for the first time in the world champions' shirt in what was a special moment for her and her loved ones alike. After the match, Vicky admits that the moments before stepping onto the field had been anxious ones: "when I was warming up, I was very nervous and my stomach ached". However, once she got on the grass, all those nerves disappeared and she impacted the game positively on various occasions and showed the technical quality she possesses: "I really enjoyed it", she beamed.

Vicky López says she was "very happy to make her debut in such a beautiful and special match". She is also very grateful to her teammates for how warmly they have welcomed her into the camp.

Next Wednesday, Vicky and the rest of the internationals have another date with history in the UEFA Women's Nations League final against France (10:00 at the Estadio de La Cartuja).
