Victories for Getafe and Valencia round up the first round of the cup

The last two ties that brought the first round of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE to a close ended with away victories for Getafe CF and Valencia CF. The Madrid side beat Manises CF comfortably by three goals to nil at the Municipal de Manises and the Valencians beat CP Parla Escuela in a tight encounter at the Polideportivo ‘Las Américas’.

MANISES CF 0-3 GETAFE CF

Getafe CF are through to the next round thanks to three goals in the first half. The Blue and Whites took the lead with a header from Álvaro Rodríguez that was touched over the line by Bertug Yildrim. Minutes later, Coba's galloping run ended with a great lovely setup for Peter Federico to fire home. On the stroke of half-time, Yildrim scored the third. Despite the result, the difference could have been even greater had it not been for the two penalties saved by Adrián (one from Yildrim and the other from Álvaro Rodríguez), the undisputed star for the home side in a match they will never forget, despite the defeat.

CP PARLA ESCUELA 0-1 VALENCIA CF

Valencia CF advance in the Copa del Rey MAPFRE thanks to a solitary goal from Pepelu against CP Parla Escuela. The Valencia captain's goal from a direct free kick in the 20th minute marked the difference between the two teams. A combative Parla had chances that kept the crowd that packed the Polideportivo ‘Las Américas’ dreaming until the very end. The locals battled hard to counter the visitors' domination of the ball and managed to break with speed, trying to exploit the spaces in attack and reaching Dimitrievski’s goal on several occasions. Parla Escuela went on the attack in the hope of getting the goal that would take the game to extra time until the last minute, but alas it was not to be..

This Wednesday, 27th November, at 13:00 the draw for the second round of the Copa del Rey is scheduled to take place. The 28 matches will take place on 3, 4 and 5 December 2024.
