Just a few days before the start of the UEFA Nations League Final Four, the player from Extremadura, Pedro Porro, sat in front of the microphones with the calm of someone who trusts in a job well done and the joy of someone who has recently won a title with his team. In a relaxed press conference, the Spanish National Team defender spoke about the good period the senior team is going through, the excitement in the dressing room, and the challenge of facing the best in Europe with a title at stake, with the chance to win the UEFA Nations League for the second time.

“The team already knows what it has to do; we work every day towards that goal. There will be pressure as we are the favourites, but we know how to handle it well,” the footballer acknowledged at the start of the press conference.

On the next challenge, the match against France in the UEFA Nations League, he added: “France have a fantastic team, and we’ll have to be 100% focused on every little detail.” His objective is clear: “It’s a title, and titles are always important. That’s the mentality we bring into these matches.”

He was asked about one of the players of the moment, Lamine Yamal: “I have a very good relationship with him. He’s a great lad, but he knows he has to defend like everyone else. He does a fantastic job, we know the quality he has, and if he helps out defensively, he’ll be even better.”

Porro acknowledged that both Dani Carvajal and Jesús Navas are two role models for him: “They are Spain legends and it’s going to be very difficult to reach their level.” However, the player from Extremadura is going to do everything he can to achieve it: “I knew I had to wait for my chance. Whoever comes here knows they have to contribute their bit, and in the matches both Óscar and I have played, we’ve tried to help.”

To finish the press conference, Porro took the opportunity to congratulate the team where he developed as a player, Rayo Vallecano: “That’s where it all started for me, so I want to congratulate them for their season and for getting back into Europe.”
