“Winning a title with the national team is always special, we are really excited at the prospect”
On the Nations League: “I didn’t have the chance to play in the last one we won, but I watched it at home and celebrated it as much as anyone. It would be the cherry on top of the cake after a season with so many titles.”
On the Ballon d’Or: “I’m not a player who looks at individual awards, although it’s true that Rodri opened the door for other midfielders. Titles with the national team play a very important role too.”
On their opponent’s characteristics: “We have to stick to our style of football, possession-based, and dominate the match. We need to watch out for their counter-attacks, which is why we always have to keep the ball. We have to be ourselves, we’re the reigning champions.”
“It’s a potential title with the national team and inside the dressing room we’re really up for it”
On how he’s feeling: “This season I’ve felt very comfortable at Barcelona. When I touch the ball, I feel good; it doesn’t matter if I’m playing as an 8, a 10, a 6 or whatever… that’s when I feel most like myself and I think I can help the team. I always want to be close to the ball.”
On upcoming objectives: “We’re coming off the back of winning the Euros and the next thing is the Nations League. I’m sure the winner of this edition will have more confidence heading into the next World Cup.”
