Spain Begin the Most Anticipated Month
At 11:00 a.m. on Monday, 1 June, the Spain national team players walked through the corridor leading to Pitch A at the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas.
It was a markedly different scene compared to just 24 hours earlier, when the stands were packed with supporters in a final show of affection and farewell ahead of the FIFA World Cup. This time, however, the squad worked under the sole supervision of the coaching staff as preparations for football’s biggest stage officially got underway.
Spain begin the most important month of the year—the long-awaited countdown to the World Cup. In just fifteen days, the team representing the nation will make their debut at the tournament.
There was also a new addition to the squad on Monday: Yeremy Pino, fresh from winning the UEFA Europa Conference League, joined up with the national team. That means 22 of the 26 selected players are now working at the federation’s training base.
Welcome to “World Cup mode,” Yere.
