A Draw to Inspire Ahead of Christmas

The MAPFRE Copa del Rey will welcome its final entrants this Tuesday. FC Barcelona, Real Madrid CF, Club Atlético de Madrid and Athletic Club will join the draw for the Round of 32 from 13:00 (Spanish peninsular time, live on Teledeporte, Movistar Plus+ and rfef.es).

The reigning champions and runners-up, along with the four clubs with the most titles in the most thrilling competition in Spanish football, enter this final knockout stage of the year, which will be contested from Tuesday 16 to Thursday 18 December.

Joining this illustrious quartet are the 28 teams that advanced through the second round last week, representing the top four tiers of Spanish football.

Six pots will be set out on Tuesday in the Luis Aragonés Hall, with Ourense CF — participating as the representative of the Copa Federación — being the first team to learn its opponent. One of the four Spanish Super Cup teams will visit O Couto next week.

Next will be Atlético Baleares, the only remaining side from Segunda Federación, who will then be drawn to host one of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético or Athletic. Two of these clubs will subsequently be paired with two teams from Primera Federación Versus e-Learning.

From this round onward, geographical proximity will no longer be considered when establishing the pairings. As such, the draw will produce:
• Two ties between Primera Federación clubs and two Primera División clubs not participating in the Super Cup;
• Nine ties pitting Segunda División teams against nine Primera División teams;
• And one final matchup between two top-flight clubs, with the penultimate team drawn acting as the home side and the final team drawn as the away side.
