The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has taken significant steps in Mexico as part of its preparations for this summer’s World Cup, concluding an official visit led by president Rafael Louzán.

During the trip, Louzán met with regional governments, the Spanish Embassy and representatives of the Mexican FA, as part of a coordinated effort to prepare for the upcoming international tournament.

Over recent days, the delegation visited Guadalajara, Puebla and Mexico City, inspecting the venues that will host Spain’s official fixtures and pre-tournament friendly matches, while also strengthening institutional ties between the two federations.

In Guadalajara, Louzán toured the stadium that will host Spain’s final group-stage match against the Uruguay national football team and met with the Governor of Jalisco, who reaffirmed full support for Spain’s travelling supporters. The city will also host a dedicated “Casa de España” fan zone in the city centre, expected to attract thousands of fans.

The visit continued in Puebla, where the friendly between Spain and the Peru national football team on 8 June was officially presented. The match will serve as Spain’s final preparation ahead of the World Cup, in a city with a strong Spanish community and deep cultural ties to Spain.

Louzán also held a meeting with Spain’s ambassador in Mexico to coordinate logistical and operational planning, ensuring comprehensive support for fans travelling to the country as well as Spanish residents attending the matches.

The visit concluded with the signing of a cooperation agreement between the RFEF and the Mexican FA at the High Performance Centre in Mexico City. The agreement focuses on fostering football development through the exchange of expertise among referees, coaches and technical staff, further strengthening the long-standing sporting relationship between the two nations.
