Real Madrid switch into ‘Supercopa mode’
Los Blancos are aiming to reach their fifth consecutive final.
Real Madrid begin their journey in the 2026 Spanish Super Cup. The club, which has lifted the trophy on 13 occasions, has taken part in every edition since the introduction of the current four-team format. Jude Bellingham was the player chosen to speak to the media alongside head coach Xabi Alonso.
Real Madrid won the 2024 Super Cup semifinal 5–3 in the most recent Supercopa derby.
The English midfielder expressed confidence in the team’s strong form and his excitement ahead of Thursday’s clash at 8:00 p.m. against Atlético de Madrid. Bellingham admitted that “tomorrow’s match will be very tough, but I’m really looking forward to playing it.”
Xabi Alonso highlighted the importance of contesting a semifinal while representing Real Madrid: “We need to be mentally well prepared, compete, and pay attention to the details.” The coach from Gipuzkoa also stressed that within the club “we have plenty of reasons to approach this match with energy and motivation.”
Following media duties, Real Madrid trained at the facilities adjacent to Alinma Stadium, with Kylian Mbappé and Éder Militão absent. Having beaten Atlético de Madrid in their last two Supercopa meetings, Los Blancos will look to secure a place in their fifth consecutive final in the competition.
