This Wednesday, the RFEF Board of Directors, chaired by Rafael Louzán, was presented with the Inclusive Cup project for Spanish grassroots football. This pioneering initiative is grounded in national sports legislation and seeks to normalize inclusive football for everyone. The objective is for inclusive football to expand through the regional federations, following the work already being carried out at that level.

The idea, presented by Board member Conxita Esteve, is to organize a competition similar in format to the Copa del Rey, in which the regional federations would take part with representative teams from their respective regions. The target date is the start of the 2026/27 season, when the tournament is scheduled to be held at the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas, headquarters of the Royal Spanish Football Federation.

In other matters, the Board was informed about the matches to be played by the Spanish national teams, both men’s and women’s, during the upcoming official international windows of the current season, as well as the work being carried out with a particular focus on the 2026 FIFA World Cup. It was reported that, prior to the 2026 World Cup, the Spanish national team will play two international friendlies, the second of which will take place in one of the tournament’s host countries.

In addition, the Board approved several regulatory measures related to the refurbishment of the interior of the pavilion at the Ciudad del Fútbol, a project that will be financed through funds from the FIFA Forward 3.0 program.

Regarding economic and financial matters, the Board was informed of the updated funding for regional federations for 2026, which represents an increase in allocations, reaching a total of more than €40 million from the RFEF to be distributed among the territorial federations.

Finally, Board members reviewed the progress made in the preparation of several events scheduled for the coming months, including the “Finalissima” to be played by the Spanish national team against Argentina in Qatar, as well as the Coaching and Education Congress to be held in Zaragoza in March.
