Final training before Japan clash
Before heading to Switzerland to compete in the European Championships, Spain are set to play Japan in an international friendly to be held at the Butarque stadium tomorrow, Friday 27 June at 21:00. In preparation for that match and the showpiece continental tournament, the national team continues with their intense preparations, working on both physical and tactical and technical aspects. Montse Tomé is aiming to ensure the squad arrive in peak condition for the competition and led this official pre-match training session ahead of the match against the side currently ranked seventh in the FIFA rankings.
Japan are no pushovers and the match will be the last opportunity to gather positive momentum and head into the Euros with confidence. The team, coming off the back of four consecutive wins over Portugal, Belgium and England and with a strong goal-scoring record (with 18 goals scored across the matches), completed the session with great focus, attentive to every one of the coach’s instructions and executing each drill with great care and intent. Aitana Bonmatí was absent from the session due to suffering from a high temperature during the night. Likewise, Lucía García trained separately from the rest of the group.
Following the official training session, Montse Tomé and María Méndez spoke to the media at La Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas.
