First steps towards the EUROS
Early in the morning due to the high temperatures alert in Madrid, Montse Tomé led the group’s first session in the lead up to the European Championships in Switzerland. The Continental tournament begins on July 3rd for the National Team, the day they play their opener against Portugal in Bern, starting at 21:00 at the Wankdorf Stadion.
The coaching staff had the twelve international players available, those already at training camp at the Ciudad del Fútbol. The group, which is to be added to on Sunday the 22nd by the F.C. Barcelona players and on Monday the 23rd by Esther González, carried out a comprehensive training session, working on both physical and technical aspects, both with and without the ball.
Before traveling to Switzerland on Sunday the 29th, on Friday the 27th Spain are lined up to face Japan in a friendly match at Leganés’ Butarque stadium. The event is to be the last match on Spanish soil before home fans say goodbye to the national team as they set off in pursuit of their European dream.
Don’t miss Spain - Japan! Cheer on the players before they head off to the EUROS!
To prepare for this tough international friendly match against the 7th highest team in the FIFA rankings, Friday’s morning training session will not be the only one of the day, as in the afternoon the players will make it a double session as they head to the gym.
