Mariona Caldentey: "We’re doing well, mentally strong and excited for what’s to come"
Tomorrow, Spain have an absolutely vital match as they look to qualify for the final stage and continue defending their Nations League title, and they have to do so against England at the RCDE Stadium from 7pm.
A match that will not be easy, as Mariona Caldentey commented: "England are a top team, but we’re playing at home and we want to get through to the final four. We’re not thinking about what would happen if we lose. Our aim is to go out and win the game. If it goes badly, this team has shown many times that it gets back up and fights for the next objective. I know the mentality of the team and the staff — it’s very strong."
Tomorrow, against the English, they have only one thought on their mind and one objective in their sights: "Football is about moments and confidence, and beating England would give us a big boost. We want to win tomorrow and then we’ll see what comes."

The forward is very proud to return home to her roots: "I was really excited to come back to Barcelona, just like many of my teammates who live or have lived here. It’s a luxury to be able to play here with so much of a culture of women’s football."

The Arsenal player assures us that the team is in a good period and eager for everything that lies ahead: "I think last year everyone could see — and we could feel — that we were fatigued, but the feeling this year is very different. Against Belgium, the team did very well and we played a great match. We’re doing well, mentally strong and excited for what’s to come."
The Champions League winner is in great form and happy to play, wherever that may be: "I think it’s a privilege to be able to play in different positions. I’m happy to be on the pitch wherever Montse and the staff decide, and I’ll try to do my best. I have fun playing with these players, and they make everything very easy."
Finally, Mariona encouraged people to come to the RCDE Stadium to be the twelfth player as Spain play at home: "We love playing at home. Whoever comes, we feel supported and backed. It’s great to see more and more people getting involved and coming to see us. Hopefully they’ll turn out tomorrow, and even more so in the future so we can continue doing beautiful things together."
