It had been a magical night in Vigo, with a goal-fest and a brilliant performance against the Portuguese side. The head coach was quick to reflect on that as soon as the match – part of Matchday 4 of the UEFA Women's Nations League group stage – came to an end: "There were so many positives to take away. I'd highlight the goalscoring ability – with fewer shots, we managed to score a lot of goals. The team’s collective play was excellent, and that translated into goals. This is something the team has in its DNA. When it doesn’t happen, we need to consider the European context… England are losing, and this is the elite level. What the players have done is incredible."

The Asturian coach also made a special mention of the fans and how Balaídos welcomed over 15,000 supporters: "The atmosphere has been amazing – 15,526 spectators in Vigo. Thank you to the fans who made this spectacle possible. We’ve felt their warmth and support since day one. Celta’s facilities are outstanding, and it’s been a lovely few days in Vigo. We could feel it – the players could feel the fans, and they gave them something to enjoy. That’s our responsibility. I hope lots of young girls who came to watch today’s match were inspired. These are players who are approachable, who want to sign autographs, take pictures... they’re down to earth. I really hope today’s match inspires many of those girls to take up football and dream of being like them."

Montse Tomé also highlighted the hard work of her technical team during a demanding international break in terms of physical fitness: "I'm really proud of all the work the staff has done. Since Monday, they’ve carried out an incredible recovery programme for the players. March was packed with tough matches and intense schedules, and we knew what to expect. We had very little training time, so recovering them properly was key to ensuring they were ready to compete. I want to thank the incredible professionals we have at the Federation – thanks to them, the players were able to perform freely. We need to continue enjoying what these players bring."

Spain has now scored 11 goals against Portugal across the two matches, despite the Portuguese being a tough opponent – and one they’ll also face at the Euros. But Spain is always aiming to show its best version: "We strive for excellence with them. It was important to get off to a strong start. They’re in good form, and today the goals came, but the momentum has been positive throughout." A complete performance, enjoyed by those on the pitch and in the stands: "Today’s game was pure energy – watching the players enjoy themselves like that is something special. We didn’t like conceding the goal; it bothered us. It shouldn’t have gone in, and the players know that better than anyone. We’ll keep working on those details and be more cautious with those situations."
