Alexia, Aitana and Athenea: top ambassadors in support of Galician women

Ballon d’Or winners Alexia Putellas and Aitana Bonmatí, along with Real Madrid forward Athenea del Castillo, have come together to show their support for Galician women through the campaign “El coraje de las nuestras” (“The Courage of Our Women”). This initiative draws a parallel between the hard work, sacrifice, and resilience of Galician women in the fishing industry and that of the Spanish internationals on the pitch.

Alexia, Aitana, and Athenea feature in the promotional video for the match, part of matchday 4 of the UEFA Women’s Nations League qualifying phase, and are hoping for a strong turnout at Balaídos to cheer them on

As part of the campaign, there will also be live music performances from Kike Varela and Ferrinhas Bravas before the match, starting at 18:00 at Balaídos. The stadium will echo with songs in tribute to these Galician women, honouring them as symbols of strength and resilience – just like our World Cup champions.

Support for Galician women from the RFEF also extends to the 13th Legal Conference, held today in Vigo. Topics being addressed include the development of women’s football in Galicia and across Spain, female leadership in the legal sphere, and equality as a legal challenge in sport.
