After the 5-0 win against South Korea, Montse Tomé addressed the media in the press room at a Cartagonova Stadium feeling like home for the team today, a place they felt very much at ease. “The fans supported us, applauded us, and the players wanted to connect with the children who came to see them, taking photos and enjoying the moment. It was a great atmosphere,” the national coach commented.

This friendly against South Korea put several players in the spotlight. “I’m pleased with the debuts and with Pina’s return. She’s been working well with her club, and that has earned her this call-up. We’ve been helping her reintegrate into the national team, asking her to do what she already does so well at her club, adapted to what we need here. Adri was solid. She’s a player who can build from the back, has a great left foot, and showed calmness today.”

The coach made a special mention of Vicky López, a raw talent who continues to impress. In the final minutes she was given, she managed to score twice. “Vicky is young, has so much to learn, and has incredible talent. Her attitude in training demands playing time, and we’re seeing that she competes at the highest international level. I’m delighted for her.”

Amaiur Sarriegi, who also spoke to the media, scored a goal for the national team and said she was “going home very happy.” The forward expressed her joy not only for scoring but also for “being able to help the team win.” Reflecting on her connection with teammates on the pitch, she said, “It’s very positive. Players like Pina, Mariona, or Patri make it so easy to link up with them. Understanding and combining well with them is a real positive.”

“I think this group has strong, internal confidence. Results can vary, but the confidence in our talent and the work we do every day in each training camp is unwavering. The belief in this group and in each player is total,” said the forward, who is currently enjoying a spectacular run of form in the national team shirt. She also had words of praise for the Cartagena crowd: “Incredible, once again the fans showed up for this team. It was amazing to experience it from the pitch. They celebrated every chance, every goal, every shot… The atmosphere these days has been so positive. The group is in a good place and responded well on the pitch.”
