“Pioneers for Life" honoured at Nations League final
With 8 March fast approaching, the RFEF has dedicated "Executive Box 0" to the generation of our elders who paved the way for equality.
- More than 40 "mothers and mothers of our mothers" will attend the match, and one of whom to carry the ball out onto the pitch with the referees.
- Football gives visibility to this silent generation to whom society owes admiration and respect.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) will tomorrow pay tribute to the "Pioneers for Life" during the Women’s Nations League final, drawing attention to our mothers and the mothers of our mothers, whose struggle and efforts have managed to pave the way for equality. The aim is to make this important legacy visible, in view of the upcoming 8th March, and to do so in such a high profile match featuring the World Cup winners in Seville.
To this end, the so-called "Executive Box 0" has been set up at La Cartuja stadium, a space that aims to raise the profile of different social causes. Tomorrow, 40 women will represent the courage, perseverance and sacrifice of many others who, through their experiences and struggles, were the promoters of equality. They are that silent generation who gave everything for nothing to advance this cause, women to whom society owes eternal gratitude.
In addition, one of these women will accompany the referees carrying the ball out onto the pitch to kick off this decisive match starting at 19:00 in Seville. Beforehand, a group of them will share their experiences at a meeting with the players scheduled for the evening before the match.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), through the Department of Equality, Social Responsibility and Sustainability, is committed to implementing measures that allow progress to be made in these areas. Among them is the visibility of different social causes, as is the case of Equality in view of Women's Day coming up soon.
To this end, the so-called "Palcos 0" (Executive Box 0) were created, spaces that are enabled and visible in the national teams, with the aim of focusing attention on social demands, groups or situations. So far, several have been held, such as Executive Box 0 in support of the Ukrainians; Executive Box 0 Autism or Executive Box 0 against bullying.
