Argentinian football will be part of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco. As such, the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Rafael Louzán, wanted South America to be among his first destinations abroad. On Monday, his first stop was Montevideo, where he met with the leaders of the Uruguayan Football Association. Then, his trip continued with a stop in Buenos Aires.

The RFEF president visited his Argentine counterpart at the AFA headquarters. There, together with Claudio Tapia, president of Argentine football, they talked over the many famous links between the two countries created over the course of the history of football.

Argentina, three-time world champions and hosts of the 1978 FIFA World Cup, will be part of the 2030 World Cup tournament, with several matches being held at the start of the tournament to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first World Cup, in which the South Americans reached the final.

In addition, while in the capital city of Buenos Aires, Rafael Louzán has had the opportunity to meet with the thirty clubs that form the Professional Football League of the Argentine Football Association, whose executive committee has been convened precisely for this Tuesday in Ezeiza.

Dialogue and collaboration, the creation of links between organisations and institutions in the world of football have been the priority for the RFEF president since his appointment to lead Spanish football in December 2024.
