The RFEF President welcomes the Spain squad to the Ciudad del Fútbol
Rafael Louzán expressed his gratitude for the commitment of the players and coaching staff during their first international training camp of the year: “You are the greatest unifying force in Spain.”
On a day of reunions in Las Rozas, this Monday, the national team began their preparations for the crucial UEFA Nations League quarter-final against the Netherlands.
This meet up marks the first training camp of 2025 for the reigning European champions, who were welcomed by the RFEF president at the Ciudad del Fútbol base camp, where they will stay until their departure for Rotterdam on Wednesday.
Addressing the 27 players called up, and accompanied by the national team manager, Rafael Louzán conveyed the federation’s deep appreciation for their dedication and hard work. “Although I currently hold the position of president, I consider myself just one more of your colleagues, and you are a source of pride for all of us. In all sorts of terms, you are the greatest unifying force Spain has.”
The RFEF president highlighted the strong bond within the squad, while also encouraging the players to share their ideas and suggestions: “We are here to make things happen, and we will be able to make better decisions with your input.” His words were echoed by Luis de la Fuente, who emphasised that “we want to be more like a family than just a team, as that is what gives us greater unity and strength.”
Later, team captains Álvaro Morata, Ferran Torres, Unai Simón, and Mikel Oyarzabal spoke with the RFEF president in a relaxed atmosphere before the squad’s first open training session of the week, which took place on Monday at 7 p.m. on the main pitch at the Ciudad del Fútbol.
