The RFEF recognises the formative work of Spain players’ grassroots clubs
During the official RFEF delegation’s flight to Basel, just hours before the match with the continental title up for grabs against England, Rafael Louzán presented a commemorative shirt for each of the national team players to the representatives of the sports clubs where today’s Euro finalists began their football careers.
Clubs that have played a key role in the sporting and personal development of thousands of young footballers in our country were rightly recognised during the flight that this Sunday carried the official RFEF delegation to the final of the Women’s Euros.
Representatives of FC Sant Steve Sesrovires, Ilintxa KE, Juventud Estudio CF, CE Ribes, CD Felanitx, Huéscar CF, CE Sabadell, Sporting Sant Marçal, CE Sant Gabriel, UD San José, CD Sport Villa de Vallecas, Madrid CFF, and SD Gernika received a national team shirt with the name and number of the Spain international competing for the continental title this evening from the hands of RFEF president, Rafael Louzán.
In addition, Amparo Gutiérrez, Emilio Butragueño, Elena Fort and Xabier Arrieta — as representatives of Sevilla FC, Real Madrid CF, FC Barcelona, and Athletic Club respectively — also received Spain shirts as a gesture of gratitude for release of the players who make up the squad during this Euros.
Spain face England this Sunday from six o’clock in the evening in the Swiss city of Basel in the first final in Spanish history in the Women’s Euros, offering yet another example of the unstoppable growth of women’s football in our country, thanks in large part to the formative work of the clubs that the RFEF, led by its president, has sought to highlight just hours before the big final.
