Since their arrival in the provincial capital of Burgos, the squad have felt the warmth and affection of the whole city. Proof of this is that the "no more tickets" sign has already been hung up outside the ticket office for this evening’s match.

El Plantío will be packed to the rafters to welcome the Spanish national team.

Spain go into the match in Burgos in high spirits and knowing that they are going through one of their best patches of form in terms of both performances and results. As Montse Tomé and María Méndez acknowledged at the press conference, "we are the team to beat" and all the teams want to beat the world and UEFA Women's Nations League champions.

Opposing them will be a solid Czech Republic, ranked 30th in the FIFA rankings, whose physical strength is one of their greatest assets. Players such as Dubcová, Stašková and Sevilla's Klára Cahynová are some of the Czech team's most dangerous players.

Serbia's Jelena Cvetković will referee Spain v Czech Republic, assisted by compatriots Ivana Jovanović and Aleksandra Kostić and Milica Milovanović is the fourth official.

Spain have never lost to the Czech Republic. The two teams have met on eight occasions, with Spain winning seven and drawing one. The last match was 22 February 2023, when Spain beat the Czechs 3-0 goals from Esther González and from Athenea del Castillo in a Nations Cup match at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle, Australia.

The road to the European Championship makes its first stop in Spain. Burgos and the national team will no doubt unite and the team will continue to make steady progress towards Switzerland 2025.
