2023 Annual Report: A year of equality, sustainability and social responsibility at the RFEF

The Annual Report covers the different initiatives carried out by the RFEF in this area in 2023, ranging from the visibility of social causes, through the so-called Palcos 0 (Executive box 0), to specific initiatives such as the creation of a team of refugees or the sending of humanitarian materials.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation Department of Equality, Social Responsibility and Sustainability’s plans have been put into action during the year 2023 with more than fifty projects in which Spanish football has given something back to society, helped the most vulnerable people and groups; and has lent its voice to social causes of all kinds.

Together with FIFA and UEFA, in accordance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and with the 2030 Agenda on the horizon, the Royal Spanish Football Federation has collaborated with more than twenty entities and organisations in the development of campaigns and awareness-raising programmes in relation to fighting diseases such as cancer, or social scourges such as bullying or abuse.

In addition, the 2023 Sustainability Report lists inclusion and integration actions in collaboration with groups such as blind or deaf people, children with autism or those suffering from rare diseases.

On the other hand, the RFEF has worked hand in hand with UNHCR to assist refugees and participated for the first time in the Refugee Cup organised by UEFA with a team of football players, men and women, from different countries.

People with different types of disabilities have volunteered to organise the Spanish national football team's matches in Spain, and the RFEF's Exectutive Box 0 has allowed different groups to enjoy experiencing the national team in the stadiums where they have played their international matches, giving the cause increased visibility.

On the other hand, sustainability has arrived at the Ciudad del Fútbol this year too. The initiatives range from a "smoke-free" space, which also has healthy menus for RFEF workers or promoting the use of glass bottles instead of plastic ones. All this is among other initiatives that have contributed to a healthier day-to-day life for all those who are part of the home of Spanish football.

Spanish football has been at the side of people around the world suffering from poverty or natural disasters, sending material to different countries such as Uganda, Jordan, Turkey and Syria, which have suffered the effects of a devastating earthquake.
