RFEF president kicks off meetings with Supercopa participants with FC Barcelona
Rafael Louzán led the federation delegation that met on Wednesday in Jeddah with president Joan Laporta and other representatives of the Catalan club.
Just hours before the match that will open a new edition of the Supercopa de España in Jeddah, the RFEF president began his series of meetings with the four participating clubs in Spain’s first major tournament of the year.
Rafael Louzán and Joan Laporta discussed various aspects of the competition, as well as the current state of Spanish football overall.
Joining the RFEF president at the meeting were the federation’s secretary general, Álvaro de Miguel; technical director for Development and the senior national team, Aitor Karanka; president of the Referees Technical Committee, Fran Soto; and the RFEF director general.
On the Barcelona side, the club — current LaLiga and Copa del Rey champions — was represented by a delegation led by vice president Rafael Yuste.
The Catalan team will serve as the “home” side in the first Supercopa semifinal, scheduled for Wednesday evening at Alinma Stadium in Jeddah against Athletic Club. Athletic will be the second club with which Rafael Louzán will meet in Jeddah, before meeting the top officials of Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid on Thursday.
