Elche, Ourense, Real Sociedad, Leganés and Celta sail into the Last 16

Fourteen places have already been secured for the Last 16 of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE during this exciting Epiphany weekend in the most historical competition in Spanish football.

The Sunday before the parade left first of all two great gifts for two home teams in the shape of Ourense CF (First Federation) and Elche CF (Second Division), who brilliantly beat two teams from the top category.

On the one hand, the Galicians twice came from behind after goals from Raúl Moro and Amallah to achieve a massive feat in the downpour at O Couto with a decisive goal scored by Ángel Sánchez in the second half.

Orense’s joy was replicated almost a thousand kilometres away following Elche CF's thrashing of UD Las Palmas at the Martínez Valero stadium. Mendoza, Affengruber, Salinas and Fernández scored the goals in a very special morning for the franjiverdes.

In the afternoon, the Primera División teams imposed their strength three times, albeit requiring great effort in the face of home team resistance.

Real Sociedad, champions in the first final of this decade, had to suffer in El Bierzo, where goals from Spanish internationals Mikel Oyarzabal and Brais Méndez decided the game in the second half against a deserving SD Ponferradina.

CD Leganés were narrowly beaten by Luis Muñoz in Cartagonova, with goals from Munir and Dani Raba catapulting Borja Jiménez' side into the next round.

The most difficult yet was for RC Celta at El Sardinero with Racing taking a double lead before succumbing to ten men in the last five minutes, with Javi Castro and Alfon González sealing their place in the Last 16.
