PREVIEW | Excitement and a feast of football in a spectacular first round draw

The magic of the Cup is back for 110 clubs who will play matches this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in the first knockout round of the most inclusive and traditional tournament in Spanish football, in its 120th edition.

This most special competition of knockout football, the Copa del Rey, gets started with 55 knockout matches that will be played the length and breadth of Spain, bringing excitement and emotion to all the fans and pitting 110 clubs from all across the Spanish football pyramid against each other as they compete head to head for a place in the next round of the cup.

16 clubs from the First Division, 20 from the Second Division, 18 from the First Federation, 34 from the Second Federation, 8 from the Third Federation, 4 from the Federation Cup and 10 from the territorial category make up the 55 matches in the first round, taking place on 31 October and 1 and 2 November.

The most spectacular and inclusive tournament in Spanish football offers 6 do or die matches on Tuesday 31 October, 41 on Wednesday 1 November and 8 on Thursday 2 November. This Tuesday, the Nuevo Silvestre Carrillo (CD Mensajero-RCD Espanyol) and Las Gaunas (CD Varea-Levante UD) will kick off the round of matches, which will be completed on Thursday at the Municipal José Manuel Aroca (Deportivo Murcia FC-Deportivo Alavés).

The teams that will play in the Spanish Super Cup, Real Madrid, Fútbol Club Barcelona, Club Atlético de Madrid and Club Atlético Osasuna, are exempt, as are SD Amorebieta (Primera Federación champions), from playing in the first round.

Excitement, passion and surprises will define these ties, the first with all professional teams in the competition, marks the start of the Copa del Rey 2023/2024 (excluding the Preliminary Phase).

Referee designation for the first round Copa del Rey ties

178 days after Real Madrid CF won the Copa de S.M. El Rey at the Estadio de La Cartuja in Seville, the 120th edition of the oldest tournament in Spanish football gets underway.

The Cup arouses a lot of interest from TV channels with up to seven channels showing live matches during this knockout round.

Supporters in the stands will no doubt once again enjoy unique moments and goals on the pitch that feel closer than ever before, against opponents from across all the top leagues of Spanish football. All are equal in a tournament that offers countless reasons to dream and enjoy.
