Before a large audience of political and sporting representatives, as well as media professionals, this Wednesday 18 June saw the opening of the exhibition stand that the Royal Spanish Football Federation will host in Hall 6 of Ifema during the Sports Summit Madrid 2025.

Being an exhibition space open for the first time to attendees of the event, it showcases the major trophies won by Spain over recent decades, the most outstanding of which are the Olympic gold medals achieved in Barcelona and Paris, the UEFA Nations League titles, and the European Championships that the National Team added to its honours list last year in Germany.

But it is the World Cup trophies that take pride of place in this dazzling stand, visited this Wednesday by some of the leading stars of the historic Spanish national team’s triumphs.

Due to the presence of the RFEF president at the FIFA Executive Summit taking place in the United States, Vice President Paco Díez took on the role of host for the governing body of Spanish football, welcoming to the Madrid Sports Summit such beloved and admired figures as national coaches Vicente del Bosque (World Cup winner in South Africa 2010), Javier Lozano (double futsal World Cup winner in Guatemala 2000 and Taiwan 2004), Ivana Andrés (World Cup winner in Australia 2023), and Julio García Mera, two-time futsal World Cup winner.

Each of these heroic figures from our wonderful sport carried one of the trophies now on display at the Federation’s stand, following the words of thanks from RFEF Vice President Paco Díez, who described them as “representatives of unity and happiness, because that is what they have always brought us through their successes, along with a pride to the Spanish people.”

Respect for legacy, the human touch, the values that make sport great, and the manner in which achievements are achieved—not just their mere attainment—were among the topics discussed by the Spanish football’s stars’, who expressed hope as they looked ahead to the challenges the team will face in the near future.

The RFEF’s involvement at the Sports Summit Madrid will continue until this Thursday in the Spanish capital, with events such as talks on innovation and technology, the round table “Federal Football in Spain: From the grassroots to the very top. Vision and strategies for the future,” and Thursday’s presentation of the GLORIA Award to the Spanish National Football Team.
