Time to go out all again Belgium
The national team are all set to face Belgium once again. Something they have already done in this group, back on the first matchday of this UEFA Women’s Nations League qualifying phase at the Ciutat de València, showing courage, heroism, fight and grit until the end. Qualities that resulted in Spain coming from behind in the final moments of the match to win 3-2. Montse Tomé is hopeful that this time, away from home at the Den Dreef in Leuven, “We can take control of the game early on”.

The internationals return to the competition in which they are the defending champions, facing the bottom side of Group A3, but that does not make tomorrow’s match an easy one. Quite the opposite. Both the coach and Laia Aleixandri warned against taking it easy in the pre-match press conference. “There are many keys, but if I had to choose one, I think it would be showing the character, ambition and personality this team has, which will take us far and allow us to compete for important goals and, above all, continue on our path to success,” said the Manchester City player.

That personality, that character, will be what Spain aim to show tonight from 20:30 (on La 2, TVE) in the fifth matchday of the UEFA Women’s Nations League qualifying phase. The internationals are aware of the challenge ahead in order to secure a place in the final phase of a tournament they are currently reigning champions of.
After scoring 11 goals against Portugal in their last two matches, the national side come into this clash in great form and spirits to face a Belgian team that, after losing 5-0 to England in their first match, managed to win 3-2 in their previous outing. Despite being bottom of the table, Elísabet Gunnarsdóttir’s players are a very solid team who come into this game buoyed by their win over the English.
The match will be officiated by Polish referee Ewa Augustyn, who also oversaw Spain’s friendly against Canada last October. At the Den Dreef, from 20:30 onwards, Belgium and Spain will battle it out for the penultimate 3 points in the group.
