Four days before travelling to Switzerland for the Women's European Championships, the Spanish National Team were received by HM Queen Letizia in the Audience Hall of Zarzuela Palace this Wednesday.

The 23 called-up players and all members of the national squad's coaching staff travelled on Wednesday afternoon from the Ciudad del Fútbol in a delegation led by the President of the RFEF, who presented Queen Letizia with a Spanish shirt bearing her name and the number 12, representing all Spanish fans.

Furthermore, captain Irene Paredes gave Queen Letizia a table football figure in the National Team's colours, symbolising the squad announcement, which HM the Queen confirmed she had followed closely in recent weeks, as well as all the news surrounding the team, about which she conversed passionately. The footballers reminded Queen Letizia of the good luck brought by her visit two years ago before they travelled to the World Cup and has seen them as reigning World Cup winners ever since. They now aspire to conquer the European Championships in Switzerland too.

A friendly group photo of the footballers posing with the Queen, taken by two-time Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas, served as the culmination of the warm encounter, which is hoped to be the precursor to another great sporting summer of success for the National Team this coming July.
