Montse Tomé: "We want the fans to enjoy watching the national team"

The head coach spoke to the media at the official press conference ahead of the Spain vs Portugal match, which takes place this Tuesday at 19:00 (on La 1, TVE) at Balaídos.

Spain will face Francisco Neto’s Portuguese side tomorrow in the second of two matches during this international window, corresponding to Matchday 4 of the UEFA Women’s Nations League group stage.

It will be the second time the two teams have met in just four days. In Paços de Ferreira, Spain secured all three points with a 2-4 victory over a solid opponent. Tomorrow brings a fresh opportunity to claim another win, with all players available for Montse Tomé:
"All the players are in good shape, with Berta Pujadas replaced by Silvia Lloris. The 23 players are fit and ready to play."

Tomé highlighted the significance of playing at home in front of Spanish fans: "It will be a pleasure to play in Spain again, this time in Vigo. We need the support of the fans to perform at our very best."

The national coach assured that: "The players are in good form heading into the match. We've prepared well and are ready for any situation that may arise over the 90 minutes."

Tomé also had some kind words for Claudia Pina, who had addressed the media earlier: "Both here and at her club, she plays a vital role and has impressive stats. She’s always stood out in the youth ranks – I’ve known her since the under-16s – and it’s a joy for all of us to have her here. She’s contributing a lot and we’re very happy with her performances."

On tomorrow’s opponents, Portugal, Tomé said: "We believe they are an intense side that presses high and can cause problems. We need to control the game to counter their strengths. They’re very dangerous on the counter-attack."

"Having the Spanish national team here in Vigo and in Galicia is a privilege. I hope fans will come to the stadium and enjoy a great spectacle first-hand."
