The president of the RFEF welcomes The King upon his arrival at the La Cartuja stadium in Seville
Rafael Louzán acted as host in the presidential box at the Seville stadium on the occasion of the grand final between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF
With the stands full and with a massive national and international interest, the great festival of Spanish football was celebrated this Saturday, 26 April, with the grand final of the Copa del Rey.
As such, the highest authority of the State attended the La Cartuja stadium in Seville, where he will present the trophy to the winning team in this season’s edition of the oldest football tournament in our country.
The president of the RFEF, Rafael Louzán, welcomed HM King Felipe VI upon his arrival at the Seville venue, acting as host in the Presidential Box for the grand final.
The match between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF was attended by the regional presidents of Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, Catalonia, Salvador Illa, and the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, as well as the first vice-president of the Government of Spain, María Jesús Montero.
Upon his arrival at La Cartuja in Seville, The King received a personalised shirt from each of the two finalists from the hands of their respective presidents in a welcoming ceremony attended by the Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Pilar Alegría, the national president of the Partido Popular, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, and the head of the Higher Sports Council, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, among many other figures.
During the half-time period, the president of the RFEF presented Felipe VI with the replica of the Spanish Championship-Copa del Rey trophy, which the monarch's great-grandfather, HM King Alfonso XIII, first lent his name to at the beginning of the last century.
